Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Raiders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Proctor pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, J.J. McCarthy went about where he belonged in pick No. 44. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cooper Beebe in pick 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Andru Phillips at the 113th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Dylan Laube in Round 5, Pick 11, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good price on Luke McCaffrey in slot 168, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyrice Knight at No. 210, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They took Garret Greenfield at par in No. 221, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Josh Proctor worth more than the price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
