The Cardinals spent real capital to be 67 picks early on Matthew Jones, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The Thrash value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Troy Fautanu in No. 36; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Kris Jenkins come to them and pounced at pick 68. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 7 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 81 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan Travis at the 104th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in slot 133, where Junior Colson graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached into another round for Ben Sinnott, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on T.J. Sanders at pick 163, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jamari Thrash at the 190th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Matthew Jones well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Francisco Mauigoa in Round 7, Pick 6, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
