Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a D- to match. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The cost of the McCormick reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Drake Maye
No drama and no debate, Drake Maye went about where he belonged in the Round 1 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick16
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the 16th pick they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In No. 27 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick66
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson slipping to pick 66 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Legette at pick No. 71 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
A reach for Khyree Jackson in slot 75; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick110
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 10 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Value with a capital V on Brenden Rice in pick No. 111, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
A reach on Johnny Wilson in slot 115; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
Mason McCormick
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mason McCormick well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
