The trade table was a mismatch, and the Raiders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hart. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
They will need Wilson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 51 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Johnny Wilson at slot 66 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Haynes at No. 81 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Spencer Rattler went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in the 92nd pick with a little surplus value in Marist Liufau. A minor itch, scratched.
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in slot 112, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaiah Adams a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cole Bishop in the 133rd overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Braelon Allen at the 150th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cam Hart at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in Round 6, Pick 15, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Brevyn Spann-Ford, who had no business lasting to pick 234. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Mark Perry at No. 250 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
