Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The 49ers walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They will need Gore Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Corum pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In pick No. 31 they get a true top target, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Blake Corum slid further than he should have, and pick 94 is lovely value for the running back. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick124 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at Round 4, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick131 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in the 131st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones in No. 133 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick176 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini in the Round 6 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Frank Gore Jr. at slot 211, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylan Ford at the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick251 Rnd7 Kalen DeLoach
Kalen DeLoach in the 251st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
