The Raiders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 71 on Phil Mafah a full 88 spots early. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The whole projection now runs through Quinn Ewers; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Belton. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: Tacario Davis at pick 39 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Phil Mafah in the 71st pick, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
DJ Giddens in Round 4, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Anthony Belton in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tyler Batty well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.J. Weaver in the 199th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
