The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Eagles reached some 53 spots for Mason McCormick, and value like that does not grow back.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Xavier Worthy in pick 53 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid a round early for Isaac Guerendo in the 97th pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Mason McCormick in the 106th overall pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Joe Milton III at slot 160 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 170th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
