The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Stefon Thompson, taking him 149 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

Everything downstream of J.J. McCarthy depends on J.J. McCarthy, and the building knows it. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That Spann-Ford pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
