Start where it matters. The Raiders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Limmer reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
If Jayden Daniels and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 7 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
In No. 31 they get a building block for the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 55 with a little surplus value in T.J. Tampa. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in the 72nd pick, with Xavier Worthy worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Beaux Limmer at slot 112 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sataoa Laumea is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Luke McCaffrey at the 178th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 33 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taking Tahj Washington in the 223rd pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
M.J. Devonshire in No. 229 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Caedan Wallace was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 34, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
