The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Kitan Oladapo slide 18 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Worthy lower, and that gap is the story. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
They paid a round early for Xavier Worthy in No. 50, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mike Sainristil in the 53rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Gabriel Murphy in Round 3, Pick 35, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaheim Bell in the 161st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Marist Liufau in slot 171, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kitan Oladapo in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Layden Robinson higher than pick 187, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the 210th pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
