Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureA
The Cowboys let Coleman fall and pounced. Final grade: D+. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.
The Coleman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In pick No. 7 they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a bendy edge with upside, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick38
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
Somehow Cooper DeJean was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick56
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat slid further than he should have, and the 56th pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Jonathon Brooks
Steal is underselling it; Jonathon Brooks at No. 68 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at pick 87 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Taking Marist Liufau in the 173rd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick184
Rnd6
Javion Cohen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javion Cohen at the 184th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick213
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers in Round 6, Pick 38 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231
Rnd7
Caedan Wallace
They robbed the room for Caedan Wallace here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick242
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
Circle this one: Josh Proctor at slot 242 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
