The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Anthony Gould, Round 6, Pick 33, roughly 60 picks past where he belonged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Steal is underselling it; Christian Haynes at the 78th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Fisher in No. 112 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Will Shipley in Round 5, Pick 12 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Jalyx Hunt here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taking Anthony Gould in pick No. 208 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jha'Quan Jackson in pick 229, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
