FutureB
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Packers. The rest of the league had time to spare on Tyler Davis; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 31 spots ahead at pick 88. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That Washington pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
No edge and no loss on Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in slot 63. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick88
Rnd3
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in the 88th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick91
Rnd3
Audric Estime
Audric Estime at the 91st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick125
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster at pick No. 125 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick127
Rnd4
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson in the 127th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick168
Rnd5
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They talked themselves into Zion Tupuola-Fetui at slot 168, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204
Rnd6
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
A real head-scratcher, Javontae Jean-Baptiste in No. 204 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216
Rnd6
Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington in pick 216 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick243
Rnd7
Kenny Logan Jr.
They jumped the gun on Kenny Logan Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick251
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
They paid sticker price for Edefuan Ulofoshio in Round 7, Pick 31, and that is fine. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
