Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Raiders, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Every board in the league had Frost lower, and that gap is the story. However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with edge rusher still staring back at them.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Daniels at slot 3, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Patrick Paul in Round 2, Pick 12; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Tyrice Knight went about where he belonged in No. 113. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid up for Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 147th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Jaylin Simpson at pick 190 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kenny Logan Jr. at pick No. 221 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A big swing on Aaron Frost at the 231st pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
