Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the 49ers.

The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named interior defensive lineman, a need the 49ers walked right past.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Guyton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick65 Rnd3 Adisa Isaac
Good price on Adisa Isaac in the 65th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A tidy bit of business in pick 94, where Mike Sainristil graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick98 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They did well to land Zak Zinter in the 98th pick, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick132 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Nothing to complain about; Tommy Eichenberg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176 Rnd6 Kitan Oladapo
A tidy little value on Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 176, a step better than break-even. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick180 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Frank Gore Jr. in slot 180. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209 Rnd6 AJ Barner
A clean, defensible pick in No. 209 with a little surplus value in AJ Barner. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick214 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing JD Bertrand in pick No. 214. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215 Rnd6 Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the 215th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick249 Rnd7 Stefon Thompson
They paid up for Stefon Thompson at the Round 7 slot when waiting would have done the job. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
