Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-

Fisher should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Blake Fisher slide, and the Steelers were the ones holding the card at No. 120. Highway robbery.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Fisher pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board.

They are betting Williams proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at Round 2, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 40 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick52 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 52 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in the 119th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick120 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 120 on Blake Fisher with edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick156 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
A straight-up fair deal on Justin Rogers at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick241 Rnd7 Kedon Slovis
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kedon Slovis. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
