Philadelphia Eagles

A solid, sensible weekend for the Eagles: B.

For all the boxes ticked, the Eagles skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Jones steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 15
In pick 22 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 48
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in the 50th overall pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 59
They took Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at par in slot 53, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 107
Braelon Allen at pick No. 97 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 155
Kitan Oladapo at Round 5, Pick 24 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
R5.34 · Pick 170 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 164
A reasonable price with a little left over, Luke McCaffrey in No. 170. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 166
A clean, defensible pick in the 171st pick with a little surplus value in Kamal Hadden. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 171
Good price on Walter Rouse in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 196
Curtis Jacobs at pick No. 189 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Sheridan Jones · CB · rank 230
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sheridan Jones at slot 240. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
