The Eagles torched the value chart for Tyler Baron, taking him 29 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Drew Allar at par in the 64th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dani Dennis-Sutton in slot 81 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyler Warren a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Jack Nelson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Kobe Hudson went about where he belonged in pick 155. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Tyler Baron at the 162nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jermari Harris at the 166th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nick Martin at slot 173 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Value said wait; Haynes King in Round 6, Pick 19 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
