The real work happened on the phones. The Eagles fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
Every board in the league had Eichenberg lower, and that gap is the story. The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback and running back.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Nate Wiggins at pick 23 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Keon Coleman is a better player than Round 2, Pick 18 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 63. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Patrick Paul in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zak Zinter this early at No. 85. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Fair-plus on Michael Hall Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose OLB-EDGE. Javon Solomon in the 97th overall pick leaves quarterback and running back for later.
A reach on Theo Johnson in slot 108; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and running back to take Tommy Eichenberg, a linebacker that was not the priority.

Christian Jones at No. 131 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jarrian Jones in pick 137 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Nelson Ceaser in slot 157; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Jordan Jefferson at pick No. 161, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They let Sione Vaki come to them and pounced at the 167th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Javion Cohen in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
