Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureA+
Larceny in pick No. 180 lands the Commanders a A-, Sainristil and all. The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Mike Sainristil, the No. 150 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 5 like a gift left on the doorstep.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Every board in the league had Belton lower, and that gap is the story.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
JC Latham
In the 15th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick34
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
No edge and no loss on JT Tuimoloau in Round 2, Pick 2; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 42nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick66
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
A reasonable price with a little left over, Denzel Burke in pick 66. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick77
Rnd3
Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt at slot 77 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick79
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They paid up for Christian Mahogany at pick No. 79 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick100
Rnd3
Luke Lachey
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Lachey at No. 100, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139
Rnd5
Ray Davis
A tidy little value on Ray Davis in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick180
Rnd6
Mike Sainristil
Steal is underselling it; Mike Sainristil at pick 180 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195
Rnd6
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in the 195th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223
Rnd7
Steve Linton
Steve Linton in Round 7, Pick 3 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
