Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a B weekend for the Commanders.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

On value alone, Singer makes the weekend a net positive. They will need Mahogany to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 4 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga in pick 36 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick37 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
A tidy little value on JT Tuimoloau in the 37th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick68 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at pick No. 68 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Tommy Eichenberg
They paid a round early for Tommy Eichenberg in Round 3, Pick 37, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick104 Rnd4 Will Shipley
Will Shipley at the 104th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick141 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182 Rnd6 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at slot 182 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick225 Rnd7 Dorian Singer
You do not let a wide receiver like Dorian Singer reach the 225th overall pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
