Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureA+
A franchise passer in Daniels headlines a B weekend for the Bears.

Start where it matters. The Bears took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They are betting Foster proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

That Odunze pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 9th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Rome Odunze in pick No. 27, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick34 Rnd2 Terrion Arnold
Terrion Arnold is a better player than pick 34 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Nothing to complain about; Jackson Powers-Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick36 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in slot 36 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick66 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at Round 3, Pick 2 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Maason Smith well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Javon Foster
They reached into another round for Javon Foster, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick122 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in pick 122; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Fair-plus on Christian Jones, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
