Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Bears bled value on every deal, hence the C+.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

The Bears indulged a want in Smith while a need in interior defensive lineman and running back stayed open. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Reaching for Smith left real value on the table behind him. That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Hit on Jared Verse and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze at the 9th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick21 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a double-digit-sack hope, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Bo Nix
Nothing to complain about; Bo Nix went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick55 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
By-the-book stuff, Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in pick 75 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103 Rnd4 Maason Smith
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went DT-EDGE with Maason Smith while clear needs at interior defensive lineman and running back sat open.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cam Hart
A slide stopped in pick No. 110, with Cam Hart worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at No. 122 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
