They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jordan Travis, 44 picks early at slot 46. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Jer'Zhan Newton in pick No. 14 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Travis in the 46th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nothing to complain about; D.J. James went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Roman Wilson went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 14. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Zion Tupuola-Fetui, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Jaylan Ford in No. 192, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Value said wait; Layden Robinson in the 235th pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
