Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears bet the future on Maye. The board says A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.

On value alone, Walker makes the weekend a net positive. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Bottom line, with Drake Maye leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 5 they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick10 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 27th pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
They paid sticker price for Kamren Kinchens in the 66th overall pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick69 Rnd3 Austin Booker
They jumped the gun on Austin Booker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at No. 75 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110 Rnd4 Devontez Walker
Somehow Devontez Walker was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 10, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
Taking Caelen Carson in pick No. 122 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Layden Robinson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Layden Robinson in the 181st pick. The roster fit checks out.
