Williams is the plan now, and the Commanders grade out a B.

Start where it matters. The Commanders took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
They took Patrick Paul at par in No. 43, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. It adds depth where they could use a little.

No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in pick 67. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
