The Eagles ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
They banked enough surplus on Logan Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Eagles clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in slot 38; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 50 with a little surplus value in T.J. Tampa. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 59 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 34, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at the 137th pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylen Wright slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Kenny Logan Jr. in pick 248 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
