Somebody in the 68th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Xavier Legette, the No. 38 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Guerendo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get protection for the quarterback, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Michael Penix Jr. in pick 34 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took T.J. Tampa at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Cooper Beebe was the payoff at pick 57. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Legette at Round 3, Pick 4 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Fair-plus on Devontez Walker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Cole Bishop at the 88th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They liked Braelon Allen enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 89. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Isaac Guerendo at the 96th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
