When a board-topper like Tyler Guyton slides to the 77th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not.
If Bell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a disruptive interior force, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in No. 44, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Guyton in slot 77 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaheim Bell in the 112th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Cam Hart graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Jha'Quan Jackson at Round 6, Pick 15, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Jones reach pick No. 234 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
