The war room fell hard for Tahj Washington, and it showed at pick No. 250: 113 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
J.J. McCarthy is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. However the rest shakes out, Jenkins at that price is a win they earned.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a passer to set the clock by, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Somehow Tyler Guyton was still sitting there in the 61st overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kris Jenkins in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
James Williams at Round 4, Pick 12 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 150, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Kingsley Eguakun in pick 190 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dwight McGlothern in the 234th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tahj Washington in pick No. 250, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
