The Cowboys found their guy under center in Penix Jr.: D-. Thirty-one other rooms let Jaylin Simpson slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at Round 6, Pick 41. Highway robbery.
The Watson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
So much rides on Michael Penix Jr. that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
