Thirty-one other rooms let Jacob Cowing slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at the 249th overall pick. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Amarius Mims in Round 1, Pick 28, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took T.J. Tampa at par in the 45th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Ladd McConkey in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Braelon Allen at pick 97 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Cedric Gray, who had no business lasting to slot 137. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They did well to land Mike Sainristil in the 156th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jonah Monheim in pick No. 172 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ainias Smith in No. 178. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jacob Cowing at No. 249 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
