The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Haynes. Christian McCaffrey gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 17 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Troy Fautanu at pick 36 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quinn Ewers at the 50th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Blake Corum went about where he belonged in slot 68. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Denzel Burke at Round 3, Pick 7 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on McKinnley Jackson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Haynes in pick No. 104. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in the 118th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Isaiah Adams, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
