The Cardinals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Roger Rosengarten, the No. 201 name on the board, in the 227th overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. It is not that Sainristil is a bad player; it is that the Cardinals had louder needs to answer first.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 3
In the 4th pick they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.22 · Pick 22 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 14
In pick 22 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 28
Keon Coleman at Round 2, Pick 3 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 47
Ja'Tavion Sanders at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 72
They paid sticker price for Byron Murphy II in the 71st overall pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.22 · Pick 85 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 95
The board had cheaper options than Zak Zinter at pick No. 85, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.23 · Pick 86 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 83
Brenden Rice at slot 86 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 93
The board had Roman Wilson higher than No. 104, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 136
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Mike Sainristil at cornerback with quarterback and edge rusher open.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 145
Dylan Laube in Round 5, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Ben Bywater · LB · rank 184
Fair-plus on Ben Bywater, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
R6.16 · Pick 191 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 194
Gabe Hall at the 191st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Sheridan Jones · CB · rank 214
They read the board right and Sheridan Jones was the payoff at pick 225. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 201
Roger Rosengarten in the 227th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
