Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB
The Bears answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: B+. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 77 spots for Jarrett Kingston, and value like that does not grow back. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 2nd overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In slot 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
The board had cheaper options than Patrick Paul at pick 53, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick59
Rnd2
Adisa Isaac
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 27 with a little surplus value in Adisa Isaac. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick in the 86th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
They left a pile of value on the table to take Luke McCaffrey this early at pick No. 122. The roster fit checks out.
Pick161
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
A wild overpay on Tanor Bortolini in No. 161, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick247
Rnd7
Jarrett Kingston
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jarrett Kingston in the 247th overall pick, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
