Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B+. The Tanor Bortolini pick is the one that will follow the Bears into the fall. They took him 67 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick14
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick 14 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in pick No. 46 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
A tidy little value on Patrick Paul in the 75th pick, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at No. 97 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at Round 4, Pick 22 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
