Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Cowboys: B.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, 51 picks ahead of schedule. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

However the rest shakes out, Ford at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The trade work was a quiet net positive.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Graham Barton
A straight-up fair deal on Graham Barton at Round 1, Pick 24, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in slot 66. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Blake Corum at the 90th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick96 Rnd3 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at pick No. 96 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick134 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Johnny Wilson at pick 134. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174 Rnd5 Dwight McGlothern
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Dwight McGlothern graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at Round 6, Pick 29 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick216 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
They did well to land Caedan Wallace in the 216th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick226 Rnd7 Ryan Flournoy
Somehow Ryan Flournoy was still sitting there in pick 226, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at No. 230 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace at pick No. 232 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233 Rnd7 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
A wild overpay on Eyabi Okie-Anoma in the 233rd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Solomon Byrd
Solomon Byrd at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
