Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a B+, for the Patriots.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

The cost of the DeLoach reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

The Jones pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 8th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 27th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. The roster fit checks out.
Pick43 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at Round 2, Pick 11 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton in slot 68 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick79 Rnd3 Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice at No. 79 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in pick No. 103, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick109 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jarrian Jones at slot 137 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
The board had cheaper options than Tommy Eichenberg at No. 138, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick180 Rnd6 Decamerion Richardson
Decamerion Richardson at Round 6, Pick 5 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick193 Rnd6 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in the 193rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick197 Rnd6 Edefuan Ulofoshio
A reach for Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 197th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick226 Rnd7 Kalen DeLoach
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kalen DeLoach well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick231 Rnd7 Bub Means
Bub Means at pick No. 231 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
