This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Myles Harden, the No. 184 name on the board, stolen at No. 233. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 53; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Javon Bullard in the 66th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 90 with a little surplus value in Khyree Jackson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jonah Elliss in the 98th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Javon Baker graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good price on Tykee Smith in slot 152, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Marist Liufau in Round 5, Pick 25 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Somehow Roger Rosengarten was still sitting there in slot 171, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Anthony Gould at pick 192 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
JD Bertrand slipping to Round 7, Pick 7 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They let Josh Proctor come to them and pounced at No. 228. A need, and now a little less of one.
Michael Barrett is a better player than the 229th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Jaden Crumedy at pick No. 232 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Myles Harden in the 233rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste in pick 235 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Austin Reed in slot 236, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Rasheen Ali at No. 237 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 18 is the definition of value, full stop. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Andrew Raym at the 242nd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 245, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ethan Driskell in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Matthew Jones in the 250th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Ryan Cooper Jr. still on the board at No. 251. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Tayvion Robinson all the way to Round 7, Pick 33, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Trevin Wallace here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Joshua Cephus at pick No. 256 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
