It is the swing that defines the weekend: Mike Sainristil in Round 4, Pick 20, a good 31 spots before the room expected him.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on cornerback with safety, offensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Powell-Ryland.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper DeJean at the 52nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A curious use of pick 120. Safety, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Mike Sainristil did not.
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Donovan Edwards worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A premium they did not need to pay, Brennan Armstrong a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Antwaun Powell-Ryland was the payoff at the 168th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Steve Linton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
