The tape said wait; the Bears did not. Brevyn Spann-Ford went at pick No. 146, a good 84 picks before the board was ready. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. It is not that Brade is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Landing Rosengarten that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
