Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B-.

For all the boxes ticked, the Bears skipped the loudest one: cornerback is exactly as bare as it was. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Reaching for Thomas left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In slot 9 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in No. 33 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in Round 2, Pick 9 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick73 Rnd3 Clay Webb
A tidy little value on Clay Webb in the 73rd pick, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tyler Baron
They liked Tyler Baron enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137 Rnd5 Noah Thomas
They reached a country mile for Noah Thomas at the 137th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick169 Rnd6 Thor Griffith
A conviction pick on Thor Griffith at pick No. 169 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jalen Travis
No edge and no loss on Jalen Travis in pick 189; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
