Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 3 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick5
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In slot 5 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick17
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick No. 17 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick67
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
No edge and no loss on Sedrick Van Pran in the 67th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick70
Rnd3
D.J. James
A straight-up fair deal on D.J. James at No. 70, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick81
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
