Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Bears bet the future on Williams. The board says A-.

The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.

If Eboigbe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

The Lassiter steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

In the end it comes back to Caleb Williams, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Value with a capital V on Kamari Lassiter in the 50th overall pick, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick53 Rnd2 Adisa Isaac
They did well to land Adisa Isaac in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard slid further than he should have, and No. 67 is lovely value for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick75 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
By-the-book stuff, Marshawn Kneeland at Round 3, Pick 11 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A straight-up fair deal on Brenden Rice at pick No. 98, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick100 Rnd3 Matt Goncalves
They paid sticker price for Matt Goncalves in pick 100, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in the 122nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
