Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a D-, for the Bears.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They will need Kamara to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 4 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a true top target at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick26 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In the 26th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy at Round 3, Pick 11 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick109 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mohamed Kamara in pick 109, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick121 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Nothing to complain about; Matt Goncalves went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
