Draft Grade — Bears

The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Limmer lower, and that gap is the story.

Johnson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st pick they get a go-to option on the outside. A real need, handled.
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams in slot 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
They took Tommy Eichenberg at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick128 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
They paid up for Beaux Limmer at the 128th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick142 Rnd5 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in pick 142 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick183 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
A reach for Keith Randolph Jr. in pick No. 183; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226 Rnd7 Cornelius Johnson
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 226 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
