The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Malachi Corley, the No. 60 name on the board, in pick No. 87.
Kneeland has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the 50th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Marshawn Kneeland in pick 53 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 24 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaheim Bell at No. 171 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It fills a real need, too.
Marist Liufau slipping to pick No. 172 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
