Every board in the league had Steele lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

Quinn Ewers at Round 2, Pick 14 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kalen King in No. 48 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Brian Thomas Jr. in slot 78, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Danny Stutsman at the 114th overall pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nice patience on Cole Bishop, who had no business lasting to pick No. 151. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They liked Brevyn Spann-Ford enough to skip the value, taking him in the 170th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Carson Steele, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Jacob Cowing at No. 235 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
