The 49ers lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

Nobody else had Will Putnam anywhere near slot 253. The 49ers did, by 54 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Put together, it is a D.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back, quarterback and other spots.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Murphy.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
