Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They will need Frazier to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Taylor-Demerson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zach Frazier well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86 Rnd3 Austin Booker
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 86 with a little surplus value in Austin Booker. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in slot 110 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick111 Rnd4 DJ James
DJ James at the 111th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson in Round 4, Pick 24 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick131 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cedric Gray in pick 131. The roster fit checks out.
Pick143 Rnd5 Roger Rosengarten
They took Roger Rosengarten at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick250 Rnd7 Tayvion Robinson
Tayvion Robinson slid further than he should have, and pick 250 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
